One alternate, shown below, is to cross at Tecate and take the free road at La Misión.
Time to get to Ensenada: Approximately 30-40 minutes
Overview: Exit the Scenic Toll Road (Mexico 1) at Km. 59.5 (Alisitos exit, near Hotel La Fonda) take the free road inland all the way to Ensenada. This route passes the exit for the Baja wine valley (Valle de Guadalupe) as well.
One of the best Insurance experiences I've had. One, the prices are very very fair, especially...sidering how high the risk is you're taking when bringing your vehicle over the border.
We were in Sonora for work, and one of our passengers had taken the keys saying they were just doing some work from the car. They decided, on their own and without permission, to drive the SUV up the hill for "better service".
But being a novice to Mexico, this person was paying little attention to the road ahead, complacent because they were on a road adjacent to the highway. And while dazing off at the dunes, they didn't see the wire secure across part of the road, ultimately rolled the vehicle and totaled it.
After just a couple of weeks working with the agents and the local authorities, we received the FULL insured claim for the incident. We never felt anything but helped.
There was no crazy interrogation meant to catch you off-guard and make you feel small which we've experienced with other agencies. We had a Baja Bound representative reach out to us personally and make sure we are being helped properly at all times. She never made us wait too long for a response.
We live full time in Baja and wouldn't choose any other business to cover all of our vehicles - from cars to motorcycles and I hear they are covering homes soon - ever.
Thanks Geoff for having our backs!

Best Claim Service. Staff went out of their way to resolve and settle an accident claim for me. I...recommend Baja Bound having used them for over 10 years. Dr Sheldon Caughey
