The advertising and analytics tools above load when our pages load and are used to measure the performance of our website and advertising, to understand how visitors use our site, and to deliver and measure advertising on third-party platforms - which may include advertising shown to you on other websites and apps ("cross-context behavioral advertising"). California law treats this activity as the "sharing" of personal information. You have choices about this activity - see Cookies, Tracking Technologies, and Your Choices and Your California Privacy Rights below.

How Does Baja Bound Use My Information?

Baja Bound may use your information to:

  • Administer your account
  • Communicate with you by email, which may include policy servicing
  • Provide you with a Mexican insurance policy
  • Operate, secure, and improve our website
  • Measure and deliver advertising and understand how our site is used
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations

How is my information used to provide me with insurance?

Upon filling out our online Mexican insurance application, we store your information in your personal account. Some of the information you provide to us will be on your Mexican insurance policy. The Mexican insurance companies we represent, Chubb Seguros and HDI Seguros, have access to the information listed on your policy.

Who May Have Access to My Information?

Your personal information is used by Baja Bound Insurance Services, Inc. and the insurance companies we represent - HDI Seguros and Chubb Seguros - and their third-party providers, in order to provide you with Mexican insurance coverage and related travel services (for example, roadside assistance).

We also use the service providers and advertising partners described in this policy - such as our email provider and the advertising and analytics partners listed above - to operate our website and our marketing. These partners may receive the categories of information described in What Information Is Collected? for those purposes.

Do You Sell or Share My Information?

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share the information you submit through our insurance application - such as your name, address and email - with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We do use the advertising and analytics technologies described above, which share certain online identifiers and activity (such as your IP address, device and cookie identifiers, and the pages you view) with advertising partners to measure and deliver advertising. Under California law this is considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising, and you have the right to opt out. See Cookies, Tracking Technologies, and Your Choices and Your California Privacy Rights below. Apart from these activities, Baja Bound does not rent, sell, or otherwise furnish your information to outside parties except as described in this policy or as required by law.

Cookies, Tracking Technologies, and Your Choices

You can control cookies and tracking technologies in several ways:

Opt out of advertising "sharing"

California residents and other visitors may opt out of the sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, or contact us using the details at the end of this policy.

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We honor browser-based opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control. If you visit our site with GPC enabled, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sharing of personal information for advertising for that browser.

Browser controls

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings.

Heads Up

If you block the temporary cookies our site needs to function, you may not be able to log in or purchase a policy.

Platform controls

You can also manage advertising preferences directly with our partners through Meta's ad settings, Google's ad settings, and Reddit's settings.

How Do You Use My Email Address?

  • Upon creating your account, Baja Bound sends an email regarding the features of your new account and how to access it.
  • Upon purchasing a policy, Baja Bound emails the policy (or policies) as a downloadable attachment for your records.
  • If you purchase a six-month or annual policy, we email policy expiration notifications approximately six weeks, three weeks, and the day before expiration. You may not opt out of expiration notifications. We also occasionally email important information regarding Mexican insurance policy changes or updates.
  • Account reminders: Unless you opt out, Baja Bound sends account reminder emails (quote reminders or interest check-ins). Opt out at any time by logging into your account and visiting the Settings page under the Notifications section.
  • The Baja Bound Bulletin: If you opted in, you will receive our online travel newsletter. Unsubscribe at any time via the link at the foot of the newsletter or under the Notifications section of your account settings.
  • If you contact us by email for policy service or general questions, we use your email address only to provide the information requested.

How Do You Use My Phone Number?

If opted in, Baja Bound will send text messages to your wireless phone. You may opt out at any time by replying "STOP."

Mobile Information

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act) gives you certain rights regarding your personal information.

Categories of personal information we collect

In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as name, email address, postal address, phone number, and IP address); internet or network activity (such as your interactions with our website and referring pages); approximate geolocation (derived from IP address); and inferences drawn from the above.

How we use and disclose it

We collect and use these categories for the purposes described in this policy. We disclose application and policy information to the insurers and service providers needed to issue and service your coverage. We share online identifiers and activity with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising as described above.

Your rights

Subject to certain exceptions, you have the right to:

  • Know and access the personal information we have collected about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of the sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information to what is necessary to provide our services
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights

How to exercise your rights

To opt out of sharing for advertising, use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page or enable Global Privacy Control in your browser. To make any other request, contact us or call 1-888-552-2252. We will verify your request before responding, and you may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

Note on retention of information used for insurance

Because Mexican insurance policies are records we are required to retain, issued policies, and the personal information within them, may not be deleted. We will respond to deletion requests consistent with these legal recordkeeping obligations.

How May I Access My Information or Verify Its Accuracy?

You may access your account to immediately view your information, or you may contact us for assistance. From your account, you may:

  • View your information
  • Change or correct your information

If you have issued a policy on our website, please note that policies may not be deleted.

How Does Baja Bound Ensure Website Security?

Securing and protecting your information is a top priority for our company. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

In Transit

Sensitive information (such as credit card data) is encrypted and transmitted to us securely using current Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption. It is never stored in our database.

At Rest

Our web and database systems meet industry standards for security and data integrity. Our site complies with Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirements for the online handling of customer information and credit card transactions.

Internal Access

Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers and servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you sell my personal information?

No. We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share information from your insurance application (such as name, address, and email) with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do use advertising and analytics technologies that California law classifies as "sharing" - you can opt out.

How do I opt out of advertising tracking?

Use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, or enable Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser - we honor GPC as a valid opt-out signal for the browser sending it.

Can I delete my account and all my data?

You may request deletion of personal information we have collected from you. Note that issued Mexican insurance policies and the personal information within them cannot be deleted - we are legally required to retain those records. We will respond to deletion requests consistent with these legal recordkeeping obligations.

What rights do I have if I am a California resident?

You have the right to know, access, delete, and correct personal information, opt out of sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, limit the use of sensitive personal information, and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
