My love of Baja started at the same time I started surfing and dirt biking as a teenager. Baja offered me incredible waves and amazing trails to explore.

Being the son of Mexican parents and grandparents, I had the opportunity to live in Ensenada from the age of 6. I was fortunate to experience riding bikes through largely undeveloped Ensenada in the 60’s and early 70’s.

Baja explorers, in recalling their initial ventures to Baja California, often mention what might have inspired them and also kept them "coming back".

Among the gurus and authors who opened the eyes of numerous aficionados to the wonders down south was Ben Hunter, a popular Los Angeles newscaster in the 1950s and ‘60s. His 1978 book, The Baja Feeling, described his love affair with Baja which resulted in Ben and his wife Margie eventually buying and remodeling their own Baja getaway home.
