Las Gaviotas is a great all-around wave for intermediate and experienced surfers alike and suits shortboards as well as longboards. When it's on, the wave at Las Gaviotas has a fun righthander that sets up and reels off for about 100 yards. Occasionally there is a short left as well. Gaviotas actually picks up everything from a southwest to a northwest swell, so it can get good any time of the year. It is usually best on a medium tide. The wave breaks in front of a gated community so access is limited unless you know someone who lives there or you are renting out one of the properties for a few days. If you are interested in staying at Las Gaviotas, visit our our friends at Baja Rentals to check out rates and availability of their oceanfront vacation homes.
